Title:
RESIN FOR ADSORBING ION OF RARE EARTH ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01293138
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an adsorbent having high selectivity to ions of rare earth elements and high adsorption capacity by using porous resin having dihydroxyphosphino groups and/or phosphono groups.

CONSTITUTION: A porous polymer having arom. rings is allowed to react with phosphorus trichloride and hydrolyzed to obtain resin having dihydroxyphosphino groups. This resin may be oxidized to obtain resin having phosphono groups. The resulting resin is porous and has 0.1W500m2/g specific surface area, 35W5,000 average pore radius and 0.1W1.5cm3/g pore volume. By using the resin, a porous adsorbent having dihydroxyphosphino groups and/or phosphono groups is obtd. This adsorbent selectively adsorbs ions of rare earth elements from a soln. contg. alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, etc., and can also be used to separate ions of rare earth elements from each other.
