To provide a resin composition, flame retardancy of which in a UL94 vertical burn test satisfies the V-0 standard even with a small blending amount of a flame retardant.
The resin composition of the present invention is produced by blending a metal hydroxide surface-treated with a nitric acid compound with a lactic acid resin. The blending amount of the metal hydroxide surface-treated with the nitric acid compound can be 10 or more pts. mass 100 or less pts. mass in a 100 pts. mass lactic acid resin. According to the present invention, high-level flame retardancy can be achieved by the use of the small amount of the flame retardant, resulting in no decrease in mechanical strengths, and the like. Furthermore, the nitric acid compound applied on the metal hydroxide surface can be ammonium nitrate.
