Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin that permits a product having high mechanical characteristics to be molded quickly and at a moderate temperature when the resin is used in the impregnation of an oriented-reinforcement material.
SOLUTION: A modified polyester-polyurethane resin is formed by reacting a first component that comprises (A) a polyisocyanate and (B) a peroxide initiator at a ratio of (B)/(A)+(B)=0.5-4 wt.% with a second component that comprises (a)-(e), wherein (a) a polyester polyol prepared from an ethylenically unsaturated dibasic acid or its anhydride and a polyhydric alcohol at an alcohol/ acid molar ratio of about 1.3-2.0, (b) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer at a ratio of (b)/(a)+(b) of about 10-50 wt.% (c) up to about 4 wt.% promotor of the initiator, (d) a catalyst for the isocyanate-alcohol reaction, (e) a hydroxylated (alk)acrylate at a ratio of (e)/(a)+(e) of about 0.1-35 wt.%, a molar ratio of NCO functional groups/the sum of OH functional groups of (a) and (e) being about 0.7-1.1.
