To provide a retaining member for a catalytic converter, capable of restraining deterioration of a mesh member due to heat, which is provided for strength reinforcement and maintenance of stable shape, thus attaining long-term maintenance of a strength reinforcing effect and a stable-shape maintaining effect.
This retaining member for the catalytic converter includes a catalytic carrier formed into a cylindrical shape, a casing for storing the catalytic carrier, and a retainer which is wound around the catalytic carrier and provided between the catalytic carrier and the casing. In this retaining member, the mesh member braided with metallic fine wire is surrounded by a molded body consisting of inorganic fiber having a thickness larger than that of the mesh member.
