To solve the problem that sliding friction is caused between a writing core being the most essential for writing and a lip every time when a slit of the lip is spread by the writing core, that is, when the writing core is retracted, it brings about a sliding scratch or a change in the shape in the slit of the lip which results in a closing fault of the slit, or brings about abrasion or deformation of the writing core which causes also a blur in writing.

This retractable writing implement has a writing body movable forward and backward, inside a shaft tube, and has a sealing cover which seals up the writing core of the writing body from the open air by interlocking with the retractable movement of the writing body. The function of opening and closing the sealing cover is performed by a projection provided on the outer peripheral surface in the front of the writing body, while an engaging part of the projection with the sealing cover is provided in a non-sealing part of the sealing cover.
