To provide a new rice cake producing technique capable of greatly decreasing the quantity of waste discharged when consuming, and demonstrating excellent effect for offering round mirror-shaped rice cakes excellent in productivity in each process of filling, forming and mold release.
A rice cake forming template 1 is made of a relatively thin flat plate 2 with flexibility. The rice cake forming template 1 is such that a plurality of caved parts 3 which have a hemispheric shape corresponding to the external form of a posture made by upsetting a round mirror-shaped rice cake and facing upward the bottom thereof and whose surface corresponding to the bottom is controlled to be the same surface as the upper surface 21 of the flat plate 2 are unitedly formed on all of a plurality of places almost evenly arranged at appropriate intervals on the plate arrangement. Furthermore, every prescribed amount of just pounded rice cake 5 is filled in each of the caved parts 3; rice cakes are formed through sticking lower sides and surrounding surfaces excluding the top of a plurality of rice cake materials 5 to the hemispheric shaped container-like shape of the caved parts 3 by gravity or application of pressure, and twist transformation in an allowable elastic deformation zone is applied to the upset flat plate 2 so as to release each round rice cake 5 after hardening from the mold.
