Abstract:
PURPOSE:To generate large dynamic lift by carrying out a boundary layer control on a cylindrical rotor for an air flow along the blade surface of a rigid body sail. CONSTITUTION:Between the upper and the lower frames of a sail mast to be driven rotatably, there are a front fixed blade 5 and an intermediate fixed blade 6. And a cylindrical rotor 2 is axially supported between the front fixed blade 5 and the intermediate blade 6, and so driven as to rotate. Also, an aft movable blade 7 is axially supported along the aft side of the intermediate fixed blade 6 and so driven as to turn. consequently, the boundary layer control of an air flow along the blade surface of a rigid body sail is made by the cylindrical rotor 2, in addition to dynamic lift due to a circulating flow on said rotor 2, and large dynamic lift can be generated. At the same time, the longitudinal sectional area of the blade becomes large. Therefore, the whole of the subject device can generate very large dynamic lift.
