Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a riveting method by which a part such as a lock member or the like can be easily and safely secured to an elastic sheet member for forming a flap or the like of a bag, and a rivet used in the method.
CONSTITUTION: A rivet includes a rivet body 4 composed of a head part and a shank part having a large diameter part and a small large part, and a flange part, and a rivet cap 30 having an inner peripheral surface of an inner diameter larger than that of the small diameter part and slightly smaller than that of the large diameter part and incorporating a flange part. Further, a riveting method includes the steps of superposing a sheet member 80 and a lock member 90 with each other, inserting the shank part of the rivet body 40 in through-holes 90c, 90d in the sheet member 80 and the lock member 90 so that the shank part is projected from one the members, loosely fitting the rivet cap 30 onto the small diameter part of the rivet body 40, press-fitting the rivet cap 30 onto the large diameter part of the rivet with the use of a hammer 60 and a hollow hitting rod 50, cutting the shank part, and caulking the cut part to the flange part.
