To drastically reduce the wear of the roll grinding tracks of rolls by executing rolling using work rolls on which the grinding tracks inclined to the circumferential direction of a roll are imparted.
In the roll crossing rolling method, rolling is executed by crossing upper and lower work rolls with each other. Then, the grinding tracks inclined to the circumferential direction of the roll of the work rolls are imparted. Rolling is executed using these work rolls. It is preferable to incline the grinding tracks at an angle of ≥1° to the circumferential direction of the roll in one direction. And, the grinding tracks may be reticulated by obliquely crossing at an angle of ≥1° to the circumferential direction of the roll. By making the inclined angle of the grinding tracks over 1°, the conditions become the substantially same when grinding in a usual circumferential direction and the disappearance of lubricating effect is prevented, so that the wear of the grinding tracks on the roll is reduced. In such a way, the realization of drastical prolongation of service life of the work roll is confirmed.
