To provide a rolled stock joining device provided with a device for detecting rely clamping the rolled stock with a clamp.
This device is a rolled stock joining device which is provided with a truck which runs in the rolling direction, rear end clamp 18 which is mounted on the truck and with which the rear end part of a preceding rolled stock 1 is horizontally clamped, tip clamp 20 which is mounted on the truck and with which the tip part of the succeeding rolled stock 2 is horizontally clamped, working device for cutting the rear end part of the preceding rolled stock 1 and tip part of the succeeding rolled stock 2 and press-contacting device with which the worked surfaces of the preceding rolled stock 1 and succeeding rolled stock 2 are superposed and the preceding rolled stock 1 and succeeding rolled stock 2 are joined by compressing them to approximately equal thickness to that of the rolled stocks 1, 2. The rear end clamp 18 and tip clamp 20 are provided with a lower receiving base 101, upper pressing base 102 and pressing device 103 for pressing the upper pressing bas 2 on both sides of the rolled stocks 1, 2, load sensors 104, 105 for measuring pressing force are provided on either of the lower receiving base 101, upper pressing base 102 or the pressing device 103 and joining work is controlled by this measured values of the load sensors 104, 105.
