Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a roller for a dampening device of a printer having excellent hydrophilic property.
CONSTITUTION: The roller for a dampening device of the printer or particularly a metering roller comprises a roller cylinder 12 having a coating provided on its outer surface. The coating 14 contains a silicon metal or is made of the silicon metal. The coating 14 is executed by thermally spraying a silicon metal powder when thermally coated, and has about 1 mm of thickness and 5 μm or below of surface roughness. In the case of using a dampening agent in which an alcohol or its substitute is not added, the coating having hydrophilic property and a contact angle of 50 degrees or below is obtained.
