To provide a rolling bearing for wheels having a sealing device with a magnetic encoder to protect the magnetic encoder of which a sealing device consists, and improve sensing performance.
The rolling bearing for wheels is provided with a hub wheel 7 having a wheel mounting flange and a small diameter step, an internal member 2 consisting of inner rings 3 and 4 on which inside rolling surfaces 3a and 4a are formed, an external member 1 on which outside rolling surfaces 1a are formed in a plurality of rows, a plurality of rows of rolling elements 5, and sealing devices 9 and 10. The sealing device 10 on the inboard side consists of a protection cover 11 which has one end mounted on the end of the external member 1 and the other end with which a magnet 13 is joined, and a pulser ring 14 mounted on the end on the large diameter side of the inner ring 4 and formed that an encoder 19 formed of a multipolar magnet joined with a cylindrical holder 18c. A detecting sensor 20 is opposed to the cylindrical part 11b of a protection cover 11, and the number of revolutions of a wheel W is detected through the protection cover 11.
