Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide at low cost a rolling element having performance such that it is as easy to use as a ball and having a high load capacity like a roller.
SOLUTION: This rolling element has a spherical rolling surface portion 2 that expands into an arc shape and a spherical end surface portion 3 expanding into a spherical shape at each end of the spherical rolling surface portion 2. The radius of the arc of the spherical rolling surface portion 2 is greater than the radius of curvature of the spherical end surface portion and the length (major diameter) between the spherical end surface portions 3 and 3 is greater than the maximum diameter (minor diameter) d of the spherical rolling surface portion 2. The minor diameter d is set within the range of approximately 80%±15% of the major diameter W.
