PURPOSE: To make the unevenness of gloss smaller and to obtain the good shape of sheet by continuously detecting the distribution of gloss in the width direction on the outlet side of a rolling mill with a gloss meter and controlling the flow rate of rolling oil in the width direction based on the detected value.
CONSTITUTION: The gloss of a rolled sheet M is continuously detected with a gloss detector 31 which is adjacent to the outlet side of a rolling stand 11 and the distribution of the flow rate of rolling oil in the width direction is controlled through the spray nozzles 21, 22 based on the detected distribution of gloss so as to be made into the required gloss in the arithmetic device for controlling. Thus, the gloss in the width direction is controlled with high accuracy and rapid responsiveness. Simultaneously, the shape (h) of sheet is detected with a sheet shape detector 45 and the shape of sheet is controlled based on the detected value. Therefore, defects in shape are not generated.
