To provide a rolling sliding member and a method of manufacturing the same, capable of securing the service life equal to or more than a conventional rolling sliding member made of bearing steel, by using an inexpensive material.
After heating a raw section 13 provided from a steel material including carbon of 0.1-0.5 mass%, silicon of 0.1-0.4 mass%, a manganese of 0 mass%-0.9 mass% and chrome of 0 mass%-0.2 mass% and having a residual part of iron and an unavoidable impurity at 880-920°C in a carbonitriding atmosphere of a residual ammonia quantity of 1-1.4 vol% in a carbon potential of 0.9-1.3, the raw section 13 is heated and tempered at 800-840°C, and polishing processing and shot peening processing are applied to a provided intermediate raw material. Thus, a residual austenite quantity in a depth position of 10 μm from a surface of a raceway surface 11a is set to 25-35%, and residual compressive stress in a depth position of at least 100 μm from the surface of the raceway surface 11a is set to 600 MPa or more.
