Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a rotary actuator to convert reciprocating motion of a piston to rotary motion of an output shaft which is intermittent and limitless at a rotary angle by moving a hollow piston member and continuing the reciprocating motion of the piston.
CONSTITUTION: An output shaft 2 rotates 90° by one reciprocating motion of a first hollow piston member 5, and the output shaft 2 rotates in reverse 90° by one reciprocating motion of a second hollow piston member 6. The output shaft 2 rotates 90° × X by X times reciprocating motion of the first hollow piston member 5 and the output shaft 2 rotates in reverse 90° × Y by Y times reciprocating motion of the second hollow piston member 6. When the first hollow piston member 5 continues its reciprocating motion, the output shaft 2 continues its intermittent rotation, and when the second hollow piston member 6 continues its reciprocating motion, the output shaft 2 continues its intermittent reverse rotation. A phase of a lead groove is made as 90°, but the phase of the lead groove can be made as a desired angle such as 60°, 30°, etc.
