To provide a simple and durability-improved door closer which is provided with a speed control system allowing various doors to be speed controllably quickly closed from a fully opened position to a half-closed position and allowing the various doors to be low speed controllably slowly closed from a position just before an entirely closed position to an entirely closed position.

The door closer 100 where damping oil O is filled between a cylinder 11 and a rotating shaft 14 inside the cylinder 11 includes a two stage speed control system SC consisting of a high speed controllable first speed control mechanism SC1 which allows a door 2 to be quickly closed when the door 2 is closed from the fully opened position I to the half-closed position II, and a low speed controllable second speed control mechanism SC2 which allows the door 2 to be slowly closed when the door 2 is closed from the position just before the entirely closed position to the entirely closed position III.
