This rotary operation type electronic component is so constituted that a rotor 1 is rotatably journaled to a support body 5 energized to a neutral position and moving in the operating direction of the rotor 1, the rotating load of the rotor 1 is enlarged by the moving load of the support body 5, movement detecting means detects the rotating direction of the rotor 1, in rotating the rotor 1, by the swinging direction of the support body 5, and then the rotation detecting means detects the rotating angle of the rotor 1. This constitution can detect the rotating direction and the rotating angle by an independent signal to simplify the constitution and facilitate the signal control.
