Abstract:
To provide a rotary valve capable of washing the whole of area that needs cleaning without needing to be disassembled, a filling machine equipped with the rotary valve, and a method of washing or sterilizing the rotary valve.SOLUTION: A rotary valve, capable of switching a channel by driving a rotor to rotate about a predetermined axis, has a rotor that is provided with a partial channel forming a part of the channel, and a housing that stores the rotor. The partial channel has opening at a plurality of places around the axis on an outer peripheral portion of the rotor. The rotor is configured to move forward/backward between a first position where the opening can be opened/closed according to a phase in a rotating direction, and a second position shifted in an axis direction with respect to an open/close position. Inside the housing, a storage area storing the rotor at the first position, and a cavity that receives the rotor moved from the storage area toward the second position and in which a medium for washing or sterilizing is introduced, are formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
