PURPOSE: To stably retain fixed state of retainers retained by a driving member, in a rotation transmission device by which two retainers are relatively rotated between the driving member and a slaving member, and an engagement piece is moved in its engagement operating position.
CONSTITUTION: The first retainer 3 of a sprag 5 and the second retainer 4 thereof are provided between the inner ring 2 of a driving member and the outer ring 1 of a slaving member, so that the first reainer 3 and the inner ring 2 are connected to each other through a clearance in a rotational direction. A switch spring 6 for generating rotational resistance is connected to one end of the first retainer 3, and a rotational resistance imparting means 8 is connected to the other end thereof through a one-way clutch 7. A crimp spring 11 is built into between a snap ring 10 attached to the inner ring 2 and the second retainer 4 so that the second retainer 4 is retained by being crimped to the inner ring 2. The cirmp spring 11 is fitted to an axial groove 13 provided in the inner ring 2 so as to stop its rotation, so that torque may not be transmitted to the snap ring 10 even though the second retainer 4 and the inner ring 2 are relatively rotated.
