Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the impact strength while maintaining the gloss, rigidity, etc., by compounding a rubber-modified arom. monovinyl resin with a polydimethylsiloxane, thereby bringing the swelling index in toluene of the gel component contained in the resulting compsn. into a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A rubberlike polymer which contains at least 50wt.% polymer obtd. by polymerizing butadiene in the presence of an organolithium catalyst and gives an org. peroxide-cured article showing a product of the swelling index in toluene and the dynamic elastic modulus of 160kg/cm<2> or lower in the range of the swelling index of 8-12 is dissolved in an arom. monovinyl monomer. Then the monomer in the resulting soln. is polymerized to give a rubber-modified arom. monovinyl resin which comprises an arom. monovinyl polymer matrix and rubberlike polymer particles with a mean particle diameter of 0.5-1.6mum dispersed therein. The resulting resin is compounded with 0.002-0.1wt.% polydimethylsiloxane to give the title compsn. showing a swelling index in toluene of the gel component contained in the compsn. of 7-12.
