To provide a rubbing device by which an alignment layer formed on a substrate of a liquid crystal display element is uniformly rubbed on the entire surface thereof and to provide the liquid crystal display element manufactured by using the rubbing device.
A magnet plate 2 made to be a module by arranging a number of magnets 1 at equal intervals and guide rails 3 are disposed on the upper surface of a fixed bed 4 so that the guide rails 3 are positioned on the both sides holding the magnet plate 2 to be parallel to the magnet plate 2. A coil plate 7 made to be a module by arranging air-coiled cores (not figured) so as to be opposed to the magnets 1 is provided at a center part of a stage 6 formed integrally with sliders 5 sliding along the guide rails 3, a table 9 placing the substrate 8 of the liquid crystal display element on which the alignment layer is formed is fixed onto the upper surface of the stage 6 and a rubbing roller 11 to which a rubbing cloth 10 is attached is rotatably disposed on the upper side thereof.
