Title:
SAFETY DEVICE FOR AUTOMOBILE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3916585
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize compactness and a sufficient thrust force in a safety device for an automobile using a cylinder actuator.
SOLUTION: An inner cylinder 17 is coaxially accepted by an outer cylinder 18 standing to a holder 11 incorporating a gas generator 13, and a piston 19 is coaxially accepted by the inner cylinder. At the time of collision, high pressure gas is generated and the piston is projected, so as to raise the engine hood and make deformation tolerance of the engine hood against a collision force large. Because the inner cylinder and the piston are projected into a multi-stage structure, if an entire stroke, namely, projection height of the piston is made longer, height under a non-actuating condition can be made lower, so that a small actuator with an excellent vehicle mounting property capable of actuating at a long stroke can be made.
