Abstract:

To provide sand for the sliding nozzle of a ladle, which is a mixture of chromite sand and silica sand and enables a high natural porosity rate to be obtained in a high-temperature long-time operation accompanying a secondary refining process even if the chromite sand content is lower.

The invented sand for the sliding nozzle of the ladle comprises 10-50 mass% silica sand and 50-90 mass% chromite sand. The silica sand contains 95 mass% or more of particles with a diameter of 0.425 mm or larger and smaller than 1.18 mm. The chromite sand contains 95 mass% or more of particles with a diameter of 0.075 mm or larger and smaller than 0.85 mm, 10 mass% or more of particles with a diameter of 0.106 mm or larger and smaller than 0.212 mm, and 30 mass% or more of particles with a diameter of 0.3 mm or larger and smaller than 0.6 mm.
