Abstract:
An improved pipe fitting for engaging sealingly with a pipe 5 the fitting comprising a body 1 having a throughbore, and a conical bore 10 at one end thereof, an intermediate member 3 having a surface which co-operates with the conical bore 10 the intermediate member having a second conical surface 15 which co-operates with the inner surface (of a flanged end portion of the pipe 5. A nut 2 the thread of which co-operates with a thread formation on the body 1 has a conical surface 6 which co-operates with the outer surface of the flanged end portion of the pipe 5. The arrangement being such that on tightening of the nut 2 on the body 1 the conical surface 6 of the nut 2 engages sealingly with the outer surface of the flanged end of the pipes which also engages sealingly the intermediate member which in turn seals with the body 1, the improvement lies in providing a stop surface 16 which co-operates with the end of the pipe 5 to prevent excessive flaring of the end of the pipe 5 during connection of the pipe 5 to the fitting.
