PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw joint for steel pipe composed of a pin and a box each having a contact surface comprising a screw part and a screw-free metallic contact part, improved in scorch resistance to prevent scorching during tightening/loosening 10 times or more without the need of grease coating even for a screw joint susceptible to scorching such as a high-alloy joint, large- diameter joint or joint with its screw part at high interference levels.
SOLUTION: This screw joint for steel pipe is such that at least one contact surface of the box and the pin is provided with a solid lubricating coating film made by binding lubricant powder comprising MoS2 and/or WS2 powder and 2-20 mass% of graphite powder through a binder selected from an organic resin, inorganic polymer and glass.
