Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable any type of groove shape machining in machining of a screw rotor having a screw groove, without replacing a cutting edge and to shorten a machining time with an idle cutting motion reduced as for as possible.
CONSTITUTION: A work 71 is fitted to a main spindle of rotation via a chuck, and the cutting edge 76 and 77 are put foward to an rotation axis direction 74 or 75 in synchronization with the rotation of a main spindle. To reduce a cutting load, a sufficiently small cutting edge as compared with a desiable groove shape 72 is moved along a groove shape of target. Machining of a complicated groove shape becomes practicable by controling the movement of the edge with a numerical value controlling device. A reciprocating cutting is also possible by forming a pair with the edges 76, 77 in oposition to each other.
