To provide a scroll fluid machine capable of adjusting the capacity in a plurality of stages, and preventing degradation in the efficiency.
The scroll fluid machine comprises a fixed scroll (21) and a movable scroll (22) having a spiral wrap (24) in an end plate (23). A polymer actuator (40) to adjust the clearance between the wrap (24) and the end plate (23) is provided in a recessed part at a tip of the wrap (24). The shape of the polymer actuator (40) is changed in the height direction of the wrap (24) to adjust the clearance. The polymer actuator (40) is also used for a seal member between the end plate (23) and the wrap (24). On the other hand, the recessed part is formed so that the thickness of an inner wall between the recessed part and an inner circumferential surface of the wrap (24) is different from the thickness of an outer wall between the recessed part and an outer circumferential surface of the wrap (24).
