To provide a seal device of small weight which can be easily manufactured at low cost, and permits relatively long slide even when a length compensation part is formed short.
The seal device for a length compensation part of a universal coupling shaft has a seal jacket 11 of metal pipe shape, and a first end part 12 of the seal jacket is coupled with a second shaft member 8. A seal supporting body 15 of a metal jacket shape is connected to a second end part 13 of the seal jacket 11. Therefore, a counter side end face 19 of the seal supporting body 15 is butted to an end face of the seal jacket 11. Both end faces are welded by laser beam welding. Only small calorie is input in this method, and the seal supporting body 15 of the jacket shape to which a seal part 16 having a seal lip 21 is fitted in a non-detachable manner can be formed before welding to the seal jacket 11.
