PURPOSE: To provide a simple seal device having high sealing characteristics by providing a heat intercepting plate having L-shaped section protruding to the side of a gas passage so as to cover the seal device and holding the plate in such a manner that the heat intercepting plate can be deformed sufficiently.
CONSTITUTION: A heat intercepting plate 11 is provided so as to protrude toward a gas passage 4 or 5. The plate 11 consists of a horizontal piece 11a and a vertical piece 11b and is made of metal having a L-shaped section, and the configuration thereof, as a whole, corresponds to the shape of a seal device 1 and the intercepting plate has several divided parts, and by fitting the piece 11a into a holding recess 12 formed on a retainer 1c, the plate 11 is held by the device 1. The recess 12 does not fixedly hold the plate 11 but holds it so as to leave a margin therebetween. A gap 12a is formed at the edge of the piece 11a, and the gas passage side of the device 1 is covered with the inner periphery of the plate 11.
