To provide a seal ring for a chain, along with a roller chain using the same, capable of improving sealing characteristics and durability, without excessively raising a bending resistance of the chain.
A seal ring 10 includes an inner peripheral groove 11 provided on an inner peripheral side, a pair of inner peripheral lips 12 and 12 with the inner peripheral groove 11 in between, an outer peripheral groove 13 provided on an outer peripheral side, and a pair of outer peripheral lips 14 and 14 with the outer peripheral groove 13 in between. The inner peripheral lips 12 and 12 form a tip 12b in axial direction by an annular rib 12a protruding axially. A distance L2 in radial direction between a tip 12c on the inner peripheral side and the tip 12b in axial direction is formed to be larger than the depth of the inner peripheral groove 11. A convex surface or slope is used for smooth connection between the tip 12c on the inner peripheral side and a base part of the annular rib 12a.
