To provide a sealing device capable of completing a sealing treatment by an adhesive layer from a bend formation of a flap in a short time and effectively preventing occurrence of a flap release or the like.
The sealing device comprises an elevation unit A for vertically moving an envelope 100 set at its rear surface upward, a conveying means for conveying a double-side adhesive adhesion tape 50 by circulating at a lower side of the unit A, and a folding means for folding a flap 101 to the rear surface side of the envelope 100. The unit A has a retaining block 8 for retaining the envelope 100, a bending head 9 for bending a root part of the flap 100 down and erecting the flap 101 obliquely upward, and an adhering unit 10 for adhering the tape 50 to the rear surface of the envelope 100. The unit A is sequentially moved down from the block 8 to the head 9 and to the unit 10 toward the envelope 100, the head 9 is raised, and then the folding means is operated.
