Abstract:
PURPOSE:To contrive the adequate protection of a crew by providing a tank, able to be deformed by an impact containing liquid, in front and rear parts of a car body and guiding a liquid pressure, generated by the deformation of the tank, to a cylinder unit by a pipe so as to tighten a seat belt. CONSTITUTION:A car body 1 provides in its front and rear parts a tank 2, additionally providing in its upper a reservoir tank 4, to be arranged, and the tank 2 communicates with the reservoir tank 4 through a one-way valve 5 so as to be filled in the tank 2 always with liquid 3. While a cylinder 8 is arranged in the bottom of a retractor 12 urging a seat belt 11 in its end part in a storage direction, and the retractor 12 is connected through a rod 13 to a piston 14 mounted to be fitted into the cylinder 8. A cylinder chamber 15 in the upper of the piston 14 communicates with each tank 2 in the front and rear parts through pipes 7, 7, and the piston 14 is moved downward by a pressure of the liquid, generated by deforming the tank 2 in the time of collision, against a spring 16, thus tightening the seat belt 11.
