Title:
SECONDARY BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3635302
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve both ionic conductivity and film strength, and prevent the occurrence of a short-circuit within a battery, without using a barrier by applying the constitution that a clay compound is contained in a solid electrolyte, such as a polymeric gel for a solid battery having a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a polymeric solid electrolyte stacked on top of each other.
SOLUTION: The elastically of a gelatinized organic polymeric electrolyte, when made to contain clay compound particles having swelling quality for a specific solvent, and preferably having a size equal to or less than 20 μm, improves without a drop in ionic conductivity. Also, synthetic smectite used preferably in particular for the clay compound, in addition to natural clay such as montomrillonite, contains no water, and does not deteriorate transparency, regardless of the addition thereof. Furthermore, the smectite contributes to fire retardancy. Preferably, a bridge gel obtainable from the polymerization of a polymerizing monomer, an electrolytic solution and 1 to 20 wt.% of the clay compound of a solid electrolyte under exposure to heat or the activated beam of VV, EB or the like, has an elastic modulus equal to or above 103 dyne /cm2 at an ionic conductivity equal to or above 10-3S/cm. At the same time, the gel has a high holding function as well as high adhesion for an electrolyte solvent.
