The invention relates to the field of wind turbines, in particular to a self-adaptive vertical axis wind turbine which comprises a power generation part, a main shaft and a plurality of fan blade assemblies, wherein the main shaft is connected with the power generation part; each fan blade assembly comprises a fixing frame, two mounting plates and a fan blade; the fixing frame is mounted on the side surface of the main shaft; the two mounting plates are arranged on the fixing frame; two ends of each mounting plate are mounted at two mounting positions of the fixing frame; the length of each mounting plate is greater than the length between the two mounting positions; each fan blade comprises a first fan blade part and a second fan blade part; the first fan blade part is telescopically arranged on one mounting plate; the second fan blade part is telescopically arranged on the other mounting plate; the end, away from the corresponding mounting plate, of the first fan blade part is hinged to the end, away from the corresponding mounting plate, of the second fan blade part through a hinge buckle; and the hinge buckle and a second vertical plane are positioned on two sides of a first vertical plane. Consequently, the problem that the wind energy utilization rate of an existing wind turbine is not high can be solved.
