Abstract:
To accurately detect the characteristics of a recording medium without being affected by the surface property distribution of the recording medium.SOLUTION: An optical sensor device 60 comprises: a light source 62; an optical system 63 that causes the light source 62 to radiate light on a surface of a recording medium in a radiation area at a predetermined incident angle; a first light receiving unit 641 that detects the quantity of regular reflected light regularly reflected on the surface of the recording medium in the radiation area; and at least one second light receiving unit 642 that detects the quantity of diffuse reflected light diffused and reflected at at least one reflection angle on the surface of the recording medium in the radiation area. The radiation diameter of the light radiated from the light source is set to a radiation diameter in which the influence of non-uniformity of fiber orientation of the recording medium is reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
