PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation material whose adsorption capacity of protein is unlikely to be reduced and which is excellent in alkali resistance even if being repeatedly used.SOLUTION: A separation material includes: a porous polymer particle; and a coating layer which covers at least a part of a surface of the porous polymer particle and contains a polymer having a hydroxyl group. The polymer having a hydroxyl group contains polysaccharide to which reduction treatment is applied and a modified product thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None
