To provide a separator for a fuel cell of low cost and excellent in productivity by coating a film exerting superb corrosion resistance, conductivity and heat resistance on a metal base body, which is excellent in processibility and mass-producibility, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.
In the separator for a fuel cell with a conductive polymer containing a dopant compound formed on the surface of a base body made of a metal material, the dopant contained in the conductive polymer film has at least one or more sulfonic groups, with a molecular weight of 240 or more. Among them, one with benzene condensation ring and/or two or more aromatic rings, a compound showing oxidation reduction activity electrochemically reversible, and one having a quinone structure are more preferable. Further, the method of manufacturing the separator for the fuel cell including a process of forming the conductive polymer film by an electrolytic polymerization method is provided.
