To provide a method for trying to provide satisfactory service quality to the stream of packets via a network.
In an exemplary embodiment, one or a plurality of alternative routes via the network are evaluated regularly or sporadically, and the packet is transmitted via a route having allowed service quality, thus providing satisfactory service quality to the stream of packets for try. Also, in the illustrative embodiment, the packet is transmitted to an intermediate or "ricochet" node in the network for transferring the packet to a destination node, thus affecting the route of the packet via the network. Essentially, rather than a source node not allowing the packet to take a normal, direct route via the network, and the packet can be made to bound from the intermediate node, when it is deemed appropriate.
