PURPOSE: To provide a sewing machine for both side end sections of a long-sized material, capable of neatly folding both side end sections in three for stitching a long-sized material such as $7 towel cloth having a thick section at intervals along a lengthwise direction.

CONSTITUTION: Regarding towel cloth A having a thin section and a thick section, when the thick section arrives at thick section detecting means 31L and 31R, while the cloth A is being driven with a feed means for travel along a lengthwise direction, the means 31L and 31R transmit a control signal for causing both-end cutting means 22L and 22R for the thick section to come near each other, so as to slightly cut both side ends of the thick section. On the other hand, the means 31L and 31R transmit a signal for causing the means 22L and 22R to part from each other, when the thin section reaches. Furthermore, when the arrival of the thick and thin sections at the means 22L and 22R is calculated with pulse encoders 20L and 20R, the means 22L and 22R come near or part from each other, depending on each control signal. Regarding both side ends of the thick section as slightly cut, both side end sections of the next towel cloth A are properly folded in three with three-folding means 25L and 25R, similar to both side end sections of the thin section, and sewn with sewing machines 26L and 26R to a good finish condition.
