To provide a thread passing device for a needle eye mounted on a sewing machine enabling smooth operations wherein a thread passing means is lowered as rotating, and a hook is inserted into the needle eye by electrical power.
The sewing machine is provided with a thread passing device which goes in and out of the needle eye 21a of a needle 21 for passing thread, wherein the needle 21 is held at the tip of a needlebar 20 which is supported on a sewing machine frame and moved vertically. The sewing machine is also provided with a hook 4b which goes in and out of the needle eye 21a by rotating operation for passing the thread, a thread passing shaft member A supported on the sewing machine frame so as to move vertically and to rotate, and a means which maintains a rotated position of going in and out amount required for passing the thread in a thread passing position corresponding to a height of the needlebar 20 by vertical movement of the thread passing shaft member A.
