To provide a sewing machine which raises the working efficiency of the assembly work of a pedal.

The sewing machine 1 has a pedal sensor which has an operating member which moves according to the manipulated variable of the pedal and a detecting member which outputs the detected signal of a value corresponding to the manipulated variable of the operating member, a storage means 84 which memorizes the reference value of the detected signal, a display means 14, a control means 8 which outputs a predetermined control signal to control the sewing machine, a distinction means 8 which judges whether the value of the detected signal output when the operating member is in a neutral position is within a predetermined limit, and a reference value correction means 8 which rectifies the reference value from the value of the detected signal when it is judged to be within the predetermined limit, a before and behind distinction means 8 which judges whether a value is corresponding to which of directions before and behind the pedal when it is not judged to be within the predetermined limit, and a display control means 8 which distinguishably displays on the display means whether the value of the detected signal is a value corresponding to which of directions before and behind the pedal to the predetermined range based on the distinction result.
