Title:
SHAFT MEMBER FOR MAGNETOSTRICTIVE TORQUE SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH08184511
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a shaft member for magnetostrictive torque sensor having repetitive fatigue sensitivity characteristics which do not deteriorate.

CONSTITUTION: A layer exhibiting magnetostrictive effect is diffused and bonded to the surface of a shaft in order to detect torque thereof. In the shaft member being employed in such magnetostrictive torque sensor, a diffusion layer formed at the interface of the magnetostrictive layer and the shaft member includes a hard phase principally comprising Cr and B. The diffusion layer has thickness in the range of 7.5-35% that of the magnetostrictive layer and the hard phase, included in the diffusion layer, preferably contains 8atm% or more of Cr and 15atm% or more of B.
