To measure the shape of the three-dimensional object to be measured with high accuracy.
First, only the image of a measuring object is picked up by the right and left image-pickup devices 70, 80 and the image data thereof are stored in memories 90, 100, and then the image of the object is picked up in such a state that a two-dimensional pattern 10 is projected on the measuring object by means of a pattern projector 20, and the image data stored in the memories 90, 100 are subtracted from the image data thereof by adders 110, 120 for obtaining the image data of only two-dimensional pattern 10, and on the basis thereof a shape calculating part 50 carries out the shape calculation by means of the pattern projection method. By utilizing the results of this calculation, a shape calculating part 130 carries out the shape calculation by means of the stereoscopic vision method from the image data stored in the memories 90, 100.
