Abstract:
A sheet transport device (20) comprises a first sheet transport path (3), a second sheet transport path (5), a feed roller pair (3r1), a first transport roller pair (50), and a contact/separation mechanism (60). The second sheet transport path (5) branches from a branch portion (31) on the first sheet transport path (3). The first transport roller pair (50) is composed of a first roller (51) and a second roller (52) and transports sheets on the first sheet transport path (3). When transporting a sheet from the upstream side of the first sheet transport path (3) in the sheet transport direction to the second sheet transport path (5) at the branch portion (31), the sheet transport device (20) uses the contact/separation mechanism (60) to separate the second roller (52) from the first roller (51), and uses the feed roller pair (3r1) to transport the sheet.
