A sheet ejecting device according to the invention is equipped with an ejecting member 4 to eject the sheets 3 handled by a sheet handling part and an accommodation tray 2 to accommodate the ejected sheets 3 and is to make offset ejection of the sheets 3 ejected onto the tray 2 by putting the ejecting member 4 and the tray 2 in relative movement, wherein the arrangement further includes a sheet aligning mechanism 5 having at least one pair of aligning members 1 (1a and 1b) moving as advancing and retreating in the direction crossing the sheet ejecting direction and aligning the side edges of the sheets 3 by the aligning members 1 and a sheet alignment control device 6 to make drive control of the sheet aligning mechanism 5 and at the time of offset ejection, allow only one of the aligning members 1 to abut to the ejected sheets 3 so as to generate sheet alignment.
