To prevent an image surface of a sheet from being brought into slidable contact with a guide surface when ejecting the sheet with an image formed on both sides thereof.
In a case where the sheet is fed from a fixing device 20 and ejected from a sheet ejecting roller 3, when the sheet with the image formed only on a first surface is ejected, the noise generated by hitting the guide surface by a sheet rear end is reduced by setting the carrying speed of the fixing device 20 to be substantially the same as that of the carrying speed of the sheet ejecting roller 30. When the sheet with the image formed on both sides is ejected, the image surface of the sheet is prevented from being brought into slidable contact with the guide surface by setting the carrying speed of the sheet ejecting roller 30 to be higher than that of the fixing device 20, preventing the image quality from being impaired.
