To provide a sheet feeder capable of feeding a normal document by regulating a document with MICR letters printed on it under a document end surface standard without connection, disconnection and storage control of an adapter, without causing complication and cost increase of the device and under a central standard in the document widthwise direction and an image reading device furnished with it.
This sheet feeder to feed a sheet placed on it has a regulating means furnished with a pair of regulating plates 12, 13 free to adjust an interval to regulate a placing position of the sheet in the widthwise direction, and the regulating means constitutes its characteristic feature free to change a first adjusting method to adjust positions of the regulating plates 12, 13 under the central standard of the sheet and a second adjusting method to adjust the positions of the regulating plates 12, 13.
