PURPOSE: To prevent skew feeding of a sheet from occurring and enable to stably feed the sheet, by a method wherein feeding rollers for feeding a sheet to a printing part are rotated at a low speed for a predetermined period of time from the time of inserting the sheet, and thereafter the rotating speed of the rollers is rapidly accelerated to a predetermined value.

CONSTITUTION: In a sheet printer wherein a pair of feeding rollers 5 pressed against each other are provided at a sheet inserting port and the sheet 1 is fed to a position between a printing head and a platen 12 by the rollers 5, the rotating speed of the rollers 5 is accelerated from the time of inserting the sheet until a predetermined low speed V1 is reached, then the low speed V1 is maintained for a predetermined period of time, and thereafter it is accelerated to reach a predetermined high speed V2. Accordingly, by rotating the rollers 5 at the low speed for the predetermined period of time in the beginnging, the sheet can be clamped by the rollers 5 accurately and stably.
