Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure that folding in the end portion of a sheet in a width direction is made more reliably by selectively pressing the end portion in the width direction repeatedly if necessary as the number of sheets increases, the folded sheets are harder to open, the appearance is also enhanced, and collection characteristics are improved in stacking bunches of the folded sheets.SOLUTION: A sheet processing apparatus includes: a pair of press members (press rollers) that press a folded loop of a folding sheet; a support unit that shifts in the width direction of the folding sheet, while supporting a plurality of rows with a mutual distance between the press members getting narrowed stepwise in the shift direction; and a control section (control section for stepwise folding of folding sheets) that controls a shift in the width direction of the support unit. The control section selectively performs an entire region shift for the support unit to press a sheet width entire region of the folded loop with the press members, and an end portion region pressing shift for pressing a width end portion of the folded loop by performing reciprocating motion in a sheet end portion region, in addition to the entire region shift.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 22
